Albert Dewey Creacy was a talented American baseball player. He was a third baseman in the Negro leagues during the 1920s and 1930s. Dewey Creacy was born on April 13, 1899, and passed away on November 17, 1984.

What Were the Negro Leagues?

During Dewey Creacy's time, baseball was different. Black players were not allowed to play in the major leagues. Because of this, they created their own professional teams and leagues. These were known as the Negro Leagues. They were full of amazing players and exciting games. These leagues gave Black athletes a chance to show their incredible skills.

Early Career with the St. Louis Stars

Dewey Creacy was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He started his professional baseball journey in 1924. His first team was the St. Louis Stars. He quickly became a key player for them.

The St. Louis Stars were a very strong team. Creacy helped them reach the championship series in the Negro National League. In 1925, his team lost the series, but he hit a home run! Three years later, in 1928, the St. Louis Stars won the championship. Creacy hit another home run in that big victory. He played with the Stars until the end of the 1931 season.

Moving to New Teams

After his time with the St. Louis Stars, Creacy played for a few different teams. In 1932, he played for the Washington Pilots and the Detroit Wolves. The next year, 1933, he joined the Columbus Blue Birds and the Cleveland Giants. Moving between teams was common for players back then.

Finishing Strong with the Philadelphia Stars

In 1934, Dewey Creacy found a new home with the Philadelphia Stars. He played with this team for five seasons. This was where he finished his impressive baseball career. He played his last professional game in 1938.

Dewey Creacy lived to be 85 years old. He passed away in Los Angeles, California in 1984. He is remembered as an important player from the Negro Leagues.
