Dez Nado's Music Journey
Dez Nado started his music career in college. He was a college DJ in Jacksonville. This helped him share his music and host his own shows on campus. After a tough experience in 2009, he changed his music style. He began to focus on positive messages and promoting peace. His songs often shared his thoughts on important social issues.
This new sound helped him get his first big music deal. He released his mixtape series called No Hands. This series included No Hands, No Hands 1.5, and No Hands 2. These mixtapes were distributed by KKR/Island/Def Jam and MTV.
Television Shows and Awards
Dez Nado launched a reality TV series called Life & Grind: Duval. It first aired on Bounce TV. The show followed his daily life as an independent artist. It also featured other independent artists and bands from his own music label.
In 2015, Dez Nado won the title of Jacksonville Artist of the Year. He also performed at the BET Hip Hop Awards. After these achievements, he released his second mixtape album, LaDolceVita, in 2016. This album featured artists like Caskey, Lola Monroe, and Fetty Wap.
Before his album and TV series premiered, Dez Nado made local news. He pitched his "Life & Grind" project for crowdfunding in 2014. He also started "Duval Spring Fest," a large annual independent concert series. He began this festival while he was in college.
Expanding the Life & Grind TV Series
After the LaDolceVita album came out, the Life & Grind TV show became very popular. It grew to include a spin-off show in Atlanta. This was in addition to the original Jacksonville series. Dez Nado signed a deal with the CW 17 Television Network. This allowed eight episodes of season 4 to air on the larger CW affiliate WCWJ.
This move greatly increased the number of viewers. It brought in almost seven times more viewers than previous seasons. This was in addition to the thousands of viewers on DeKalb-Comcast 25 in Atlanta. Dez Nado believes his growing independent TV platform helped his music become more popular. His single "Futuristic" sold over 12,000 units. His latest single "Duele" also had tens of thousands of downloads and streams. His events and music received praise from G-Unit Records and Def Jam.
