Dhanin Chearavanont (Thai: ธนินท์ เจียรวนนท์; born 19 April 1939) is a very successful businessman from Bangkok, Thailand. He is known in Chinese as Xie Guomin.
Mr. Chearavanont is the senior chairman of Charoen Pokphand, which is Thailand's largest private company. He leads the Chearavanont family, one of Asia's wealthiest families. In 2022, his family was ranked as the richest in Thailand by Forbes magazine.
Early Life and Learning
Dhanin Chearavanont was born in 1939. He was the youngest of four sons of Chia Ek Chor.
He went to primary school at the Chinese Sarasit Wittaya school. This school is in Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi province. He finished primary school there in 1949.
In 1952, he traveled to China to continue his studies. He attended Shantou No.1 High School. Later, in 1956, he went to the Education University of Hong Kong. He also received training from the National Defence College of Thailand.
His Business Work
Mr. Chearavanont helped build a strong relationship with leaders in China. This allowed his company, CP, to become a very large foreign land user in China. By 2012, CP was using about 200,000 hectares of land there.
Helping Others
Dhanin Chearavanont is also known for his generosity. In 2020, he made a large donation to help Thailand. This money was used to fight the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
