How the Show Was Made
In 2005, Nelvana Entertainment started a project called the Funpack. This project let creators share their ideas for short, 5-minute shows. Greg Collinson didn't plan to join at first. But a friend talked to him about it on a train.
Greg then spent two weeks creating a detailed plan for his show idea. He first called it Power Stone Warriors. In his plan, he designed the first versions of the characters, the different groups, and the world where the story would happen. He later met with the people in charge at Nelvana. They liked his idea a lot! Greg Collinson was given the go-ahead to make the series. He got help from Ken Cuperus, a script writer. The show officially started on September 16, 2006, with its new name: Di-Gata Defenders.
Where to Watch the Show
In 2018, Disney XD (Canada) started showing reruns of Di-Gata Defenders. Before that, in 2016, you could watch it on Bell and Roger's KidSuite.
Provinces of RaDos: The World of Di-Gata Defenders
RaDos is a world made up of eight different areas called provinces. Each province has its own unique features and people.
Ogama-Gor: The Organized Land
Ogama-Gor is a very organized and city-filled province. It's often fighting with the tribes of Dakor. Many small cities work together under a group called the Omegar. The people of Ogama-Gor are very focused on their military and don't trust outsiders much. They have a shaky alliance with Infinor. Their military decisions are made by a council of generals called the Ogamarat. The "Knights of Ogama-gor" are a special group of skilled warriors who lead the army.
Dakor: The Mountain Tribes
Dakor is a cold, mountainous place. It's home to strong Dakorian tribes who often fight each other and their neighbors. Dakorians are very close-knit in their families and tribes. They make decisions in meetings called Di-Gorums. In these meetings, representatives from each family shout at each other around a tall stone called an Obelisk. The first person to climb to the top of the Obelisk makes the decision for the tribe.
Nega-La: The Desert and Mountains
Nega-La is the least populated province, mostly made of dry deserts and wet areas. The Binn Yati mountains are an exception. Most communities here move around a lot, trading goods like Dakorian Stone and Yantos technology. The biggest city is Maudata, known for its amazing stone carvings. The Monks of NegLa live in the Binn-Yati Mountains. They are very private and don't get involved in world affairs.
Yantos: The Land of Monks and Wisdom
Yantos is the most mystical province. It's where the Gata-shin monks live. These monks are allies with the Wizards of Yan and the Di-Gata Defenders. Yantos has many towns built around monasteries, which offer spiritual and physical protection. It's a place full of knowledge and wizard power. The North Veltlands are where large herds of Yan-on animals graze.
Sumos: The Wild Wilderness
Sumos is a wild, overgrown place with ancient ruins and temples. It's known for bandits and has no known settlements. This is why the monks hid the young Defenders here to keep them safe. One of the biggest dangers in Sumos are the Rock Serpents, very territorial creatures that can cause a lot of destruction.
Altamor: The Ghost Province
Altamor used to be a beautiful wizard city, but it was completely destroyed by a powerful magic spell called the Spell of Binding. Now, it's a burnt wasteland with only a few ruins left. Most people avoid Altamor because it's believed to be haunted. When the Spell of Binding was cast, it created four huge cracks in the earth that still divide families and tribes.
Infinor: The Divided Kingdom
Infinor was once home to the ancient Bakkorian kingdom. It's split into two parts by the Rift of Yiman: Bakkor in the north and Nord-Binn in the south. Bakkor is known for a feared thieves' guild that controls the Black Vine forest. Nord-Binn is mostly farmland, where people raise Yin-on animals. The Elders of Arboth, a mining town, provide guidance and dig up rare stones.
Yin-tos: The Militarized State
Yin-Tos is a very strong and technologically advanced province, similar to Ogama-Gor. However, it's ruled by a warlord, currently Brackus, who has total power. Their military is based on who is the most brutal and ambitious. The land itself is harsh, with barren rocks and rotten forests. Yin-Tos is not liked by other provinces because of its history of being cruel and using its military power to control others.
The Blasted Flats
East of Yin-Tos is a large, uninhabitable plain called the 'Blasted Flats'. It looks like it's made of glass. No one has ever reached the end of it. Some legends say it was created by the ancient Bakkorians to keep something out of RaDos.

Organizations
Order of Infinis This group was started by Nazmul, a corrupt Wizard of Yan who wanted more power and to live forever. They were the main bad guys in Season 1. Nazmul was eventually trapped (and later defeated), and Brackus was sent away. Flinch was thought to be the only one left, until Brackus returned. Flinch and Malco then teamed up with the Ethos to try and free Nazmul.
Ethos Like the Order of Infinis, the Ethos are an evil group. Long ago, the Wizards of Yan trapped them in the Dark Realm using a powerful tool called the Celestial Abyss. When a giant stone called the Megalith was destroyed, it released four Ethos back into RaDos. Their goal is to combine the Dark Realm and RaDos. They want to feed on Di-Gata energy, which would destroy all life on the planet.
Wizards of Yan These were the most powerful beings in RaDos. They created the Di-Gata Defenders to protect the world. They also built important machines like the Machine of Binding and the Celestial Abyss. They were responsible for trapping the Ethos and the Megalith. Now, only a few Wizards are left, like Nazmul, Professor Alnar, and Melosa with her grandmother.
Rougon The Rougon are hated hunters in RaDos. They are human hunters who do anything for money. Their secret base is underwater. The Defenders destroyed their hideout after freeing a creature called the Yinicor.
Di-Gata Defenders This is the main group of heroes, formed by the Wizards of Yan. Their job is to protect RaDos and its people from anyone who uses sigil energy for evil. Many Defenders have been lost over the years. The current Defenders are Seth, Melosa, Erik, Rion, Adam, and Kara.
Yin-tos Army This army was once allied with the Wizards of Yan against the Ethos. Later, they became part of the Order of Infinis. They are mercenaries who fight for money, but they used to be brave warriors protecting RaDos. They were loyal to Brackus. After the Order fell apart, some Yin-tos soldiers started working for the Ethos.
Gatashin Monks These monks had many important tasks, especially with the Pure Stones. Four monks each hid a Pure Stone. Some monks also took the young Defenders to their training place, called a Dojo. They also run the Gatashin Prison, which holds criminals who misuse RaDos' power.
The Zad The Zad are a race of human-like ant-eaters. They serve the Ethos and carry out their plans.
Yan-Nega class Wizards These are wizards from the time of the Ethos. Kor Yin-an, a Yan-Nega wizard, tried to betray the Wizards during a big battle. He ended up trapped in a tomb for his actions.
Ogaman Federation This is a group that Aaron the Hunter was part of. They once had an important book called the Tome of Al-mortigar.
RaDos Sorcery
Games Based on the Show
There were several online games for Di-Gata Defenders:
- Di-Gata Sigil Shooter
- DiGata Defenders: Invasion of Infinis
- Power Stone Combat
- Di-Gata Battle Training
The ATV and Battle games were also available on Teletoon.com when the show was airing. There was also a game made for the Nintendo DS.
Di-Gata Stones: Power from the Realm
Di-Gata Stones use the magic energy hidden beneath RaDos to unleash powerful attacks. Each warrior has their own collection of stones. In a fight, a warrior must choose their stones carefully to get the best results. They need to understand their opponent's strengths and weaknesses.
There are nine main types of stones, each with a different role in a Di-Gata battle:
- Shield Stones (Common)
These stones are used for defense. They protect the user from attacks. You have to decide how many to use, because using more shield energy means less power for your attacks.
- Guardian Stones (Rare)
These stones hold powerful creatures called GUARDIANS. Each guardian has different attack and defense abilities. Even the smallest guardian can be very helpful in a duel.
- Warrior Stones (Rare)
Warrior Stones release energy in many ways, like fireballs or lightning bolts. In battle, they are often combined with booster stones for extra power.
- Booster Stones (Common)
These stones make Warrior Stones stronger. Adding more booster stones makes attacks more powerful, but it also increases the chance of a mistake. Only very experienced users tend to use many at once.
- Champion (Henge) Stones (Ultra Rare)
These are extremely powerful and hard to find. They already contain a combined sigil called a henge, so they always work perfectly. Their energy levels are much higher than regular power stones.
- Aqua Stones (Rare)
These are the only stones that let you cast spells in the ocean or large bodies of water. Other stones need land to draw power. Aqua Stones are made from enchanted rocks from the seabed. They use small amounts of water power to attack. The Defenders use them to swim, return to the surface, survive underwater, and control water to fight.
- Pure Stones (Only Four)
These four special Di-Gata stones were used to trap the Megalith. They were needed to complete the Spell of Binding. However, they were destroyed, which allowed the Megalith and Ethos to escape. There are only four, each with a sigil: Dako, Yan, Yin, and Ogama.
- Nostrum Vitae Stone (Fabled)
This stone was first seen when Brackus used it to turn a creature into dust. He also used its power for healing. It's a very rare and legendary stone.
- Wizard Stone (Only Five)
Mel's grandmother carved these stones. They give the user a vision of where to find an Icon. Mel, Seth, Erik, and Rion each had a vision from these stones.
Power Sigils: The Realm's Energy
There are ten known Power Sigils. They let users tap into different parts of RaDos' energy using dice-like Di-Gata Stones. Each Sigil can release raw energy. When combined, they form a Henge, which creates much greater power and allows for different kinds of attacks or helpful abilities. Sigils are also found on places, objects, clothes, and sometimes as birthmarks or tattoos on people's faces. Sigils are not good or evil; they are parts of a whole and need their opposites to exist. Combining Sigils creates true power.

It's said to have powers of renewal and can even bring things back to life or grow crops. It's a very rare and mysterious power. Unlike other sigils, Vitus has no known opposite, making it very powerful but also unstable.
- Used by: Seth (in the form of a champion stone)

Ethos This sigil was first explained by Alnar when he talked about the Ethos. The Zad and some Ethos messengers are the only ones who use Ethos Stones. It can combine with other sigils for dark magic attacks. It's also called the "Shadow Stone."

- Guardians: none
- Opposite Sigil: Nostrum Vitae (Unconfirmed)
Nostrum Vitae When Brackus was a healer, he carried a stone with this sigil. It was confirmed by Greg Collinson. It was introduced in the episode "The Healer." Brackus used it to turn a creature into dust. It's also used for healing.
- Used by: The Healer (Brackus)
- Guardians: Nostrum Vitae Mask
- Opposite Sigil: Ethos (Unconfirmed)
Orn-Ra and Mal-Ra These are two new sigils seen in the Season 2 opening. One looks like a small Dako with an X on top. The other is its opposite, called the XT sigil. Brim knows how to carve them, and he passed this knowledge to Erik, who is now a master carver.
Key Technology in RaDos
In RaDos, most technology is made from stone or metal and powered by Di-Gata Stones.
The Key
This is a large blue stone covered in Yan sigils. It detects strong energy sources. The brighter it glows, the closer the energy source is. It's the only tool that can find the approximate location of the Pure Stones. The Defenders lost it and got it back several times throughout their adventures.
Erik's Gauntlet
Erik is one of the few characters who uses a special device to launch or activate stones. He calls it a "remote energy manipulation gauntlet." It can also control robots, activate machines, and perform scans. It once gave him super strength, but that power was temporary. Erik also added a "Backlasher" function to absorb and redirect energy.
Yan-Altas Container
This device was designed to hold the Pure Stones and hide them from the Key. It's made from a special rock called Ultimite, which absorbs magic. The Defenders first got it from Brim. It was destroyed once, but Erik made a new one.
Sigil Stormer
These are the main vehicles the Defenders use to travel around RaDos. They are like "Bikes" and are powered by Di-Gata stones. Each Defender has one, and they can fly and have energy weapons for combat.
Replicator Stone
Flinch and Malco used this stone to create endless squid-like robots for the Order. However, it overloaded and became self-aware, ordering its creations to destroy RaDos. It was eventually shut down.
The Machine of Binding
This machine was used to activate the Pure Stones' power to trap the Megalith. It couldn't control the damage the sealing would cause. The Defenders tried to use it to find Pure Stones, but it almost destroyed the realm. It's now useless since the Megalith and Pure Stones are gone.
The Shift Stone
This device is both a timer and a key. It has six sigils that rotate. When they align, it's an equinox in RaDos, and the stone can open a portal between the Dark Realm (where the Ethos live) and RaDos. The Defenders used it to rescue Kara and stop the Ethos.
Celestial Abyss
Fifty years before the show, the Wizards of Yan used this superweapon, created by Flinch, to banish the Ethos to the Dark Realm. It was later broken into five pieces, known as the Five Icons. Each Icon was hidden by a Wizard. The Ethos want to reassemble it to open the portal to the Dark Realm again.
The Guardianizer
This rifle-sized weapon, created by Si'i, could absorb guardians and release mutated versions of them. These mutant guardians were out of control. It was later modified to reverse its effects. Flinch rebuilt it into a giant cannon that could turn Rion into a mutated guardian.
Dakonaut
These are tall, floating, one-eyed robots built to serve Nazmul. They were defeated by the Wizards of Yan years ago. Four were rebuilt to find the Megalith energy inside Melosa. They were destroyed again when Seth used the Vitus stone on Melosa, releasing the energy.
Seth's Mech Arm
Erik made this robotic rock arm for Seth after he lost his hand. It was very powerful but could influence Seth to work for Doku. Seth removed it when his hand was restored, but later got another one. This new arm can transform into a cannon, holding and firing his Di-Gata stones with great accuracy.
Wizard Tower
These mighty castles were built after the Ethos war for the Wizards of Yan to connect with the sky. They were meant for healing and knowledge but also had gun turrets for defense. Doku took over an abandoned one and used it to harvest Di-Gata energy.
Henge/Champion Stones: Special Powers
Phase Stone
Adam owned this stone and gave it to Melosa. When thrown at an object or wall, it lets the user walk through it as if it wasn't there. Mel used it to enter a shaman's house and to free herself and Adam from a cage.
The Nova Stone
This extremely rare and powerful stone was carved by Nazmul and Sari. It was Seth's father's and then given to Seth. It's a last-resort weapon with its own power source. It fires a large beam of light. Seth gained full control of its power. It was used to separate Nazmul from Malco and seal his spirit.
The Flawed Stone
This stone appeared in one episode. It created an illusion of paradise, corrupting villagers' minds. Melosa was immune and found the stone, destroying it and breaking the curse.
Tracking Stone
Adam used this stone so Brackus could be easily found by the Order of Infinis. It's unknown how it works, but it helps locate people.
Transporter Stone
This stone is part of a transport system. Brackus discovered it and used it to move his entire Yin-Tos army. This stone is needed to activate the system.
Shaman's Stone
The shaman used this stone to absorb an attack and then release a creature that attacked Malco. A Gatashin monk gave it to him.
The Eternity Stone
Melosa used this champion stone and a special staff to travel into the past. Erik believes it might affect how time works.
Annihilator Stone
This is a superweapon compacted into a stone. It has enough power to destroy any life or structure within a ten-mile radius. It was accidentally activated once, but Erik managed to redirect its energy into the sky.
