Maurice Dean Wint was born in Leicestershire, England. He moved to Canada with his family in 1967. He started his acting journey on stage in Toronto. He also studied drama at York University, earning a special degree in Fine Arts.
Early Acting Roles
Wint first appeared on television in 1987. This was in a Canadian police show called Night Heat.
In 1995, he starred in two movies that were shown at the Toronto International Film Festival. These films were Rude and Curtis's Charm. Rude was even shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Curtis's Charm won a special award for being a great Canadian movie.
Famous Movie and TV Roles
One of Maurice Dean Wint's most well-known roles was Quentin. He played this character in the 1997 science fiction horror movie Cube. This film became very popular with fans.
He also played Sgt. Luther Robinson in the 2001 movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Wint has been in many Canadian TV shows too. Some of these include Tekwar, RoboCop: Prime Directives, and Psi Factor. More recently, he appeared in Hudson & Rex, Shoot the Messenger, and Diggstown.
In 2022, Maurice Dean Wint was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award. This was for his excellent acting in the web series For the Record. In 2023, he starred in the popular TV series SurrealEstate.
