History of Diamondville
How Diamondville Started
In 1868, a man named Harrison Church found coal near the Hams Fork River. He got money from a group in Minneapolis to start a company called the Hams Fork River Coal Company.
The town of Diamondville was built to give homes to the miners who worked in these coal mines. The town officially became a town in 1896.
Why the Town is Called Diamondville
The town got its name because of the excellent quality of coal found there. This coal was so good that it looked like black diamonds.
