Her Early Life
Diarra Sylla was born in Paris, France. When she was young, she moved to Dakar, Senegal, where she grew up. She lived mostly with her cousin because her mother traveled often. From a very young age, Diarra loved to perform. When she was just six years old, she performed on stage and knew right away that she wanted to be a singer.
Diarra is very good with languages! She speaks three languages fluently: French, Wolof (a language spoken in Senegal), and English. She also knows some Turkish.
Her Music Journey Begins
For four years, Diarra's mother wasn't sure about her pursuing music. But in 2016, she finally let Diarra join a big singing competition called Sen P'tit Gallé. This competition is one of the most important singing contests in Africa.

Diarra worked hard and won first place in the 2016 Sen P'tit Gallé competition! This win made her instantly famous and helped her get noticed in the music world.
Joining Now United
Diarra first heard about the group Now United from her sister. Her sister encouraged her to try out for the group. Now United is a unique global pop group with members from different countries around the world.
Diarra's audition was a success! On November 12, 2017, it was announced that she would be part of Now United's final lineup. She was the only member from Africa, representing Senegal.
