William Leon "Dick" Price (born September 10, 1933 – died February 23, 2009) was an amazing American football and track and field coach. He also worked as an athletics administrator at a college. He is best known for his time at Norfolk State University.
Price was the head football coach at Norfolk State from 1974 to 1983. During this time, his teams won 62 games, lost 41, and tied 4. He led the Norfolk State Spartans football teams to win three championships in a row. These were the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) titles from 1974 to 1976.
He was also the head track and field coach at Norfolk State from 1964 to 1974. His track teams were incredibly successful. They won two NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 1973 and 1974. Today, the football stadium at Norfolk State, called William "Dick" Price Stadium, is named after him.
Dick Price was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated from Hampton University in 1957. He passed away in Norfolk on February 23, 2009, after battling cancer.
