Dicrastylis linearifolia is a special kind of plant. It belongs to a group of plants called Dicrastylis. This plant is part of the Lamiaceae family. You can only find it growing naturally in Western Australia. This means it is endemic to that area.

What Does Dicrastylis linearifolia Look Like?

This plant is a shrub with many branches. It can grow from about 1 meter (3 feet) to 3 meters (10 feet) tall. You'll often find it growing in red sandy soil. These soils are usually found on flat, sandy areas called sandplains.

Its stems are mostly round. They do not have any special flat scales. The leaves grow in pairs, one across from the other. They are also "entire," meaning they have smooth edges. Each leaf is about 15 to 40 millimeters long. They are also 2 to 6 millimeters wide. The top surfaces of the leaves have tiny branched hairs.

The plant has small leaf-like parts called bracts. These bracts are about 0.7 to 1 millimeter long. The flower stalks are 2.5 to 3.5 millimeters long. They also have branched hairs and flat scale hairs. The flower has a cup-like part called a calyx. It has five sections, each 1 to 1.7 millimeters long. The calyx is covered in branched hairs.

The main part of the flower is called the corolla. It is white to cream in color. The corolla is 4.5 to 6.5 millimeters long. It does not have any dots or stripes inside. Each flower has five stamens. These are the parts that produce pollen. You can see its flowers from November to December.

This plant grows in specific areas of Western Australia. These areas are known as Beard's Eremaean and South-West Provinces.
