Diego Armando Calderón Espinoza, born on October 26, 1986, is a talented footballer from Ecuador. He played a key role in the team that won the Copa Libertadores in 2008 with Liga de Quito.

Playing for Clubs
Early Career and Liga de Quito
Diego Calderón was a big part of Liga de Quito's journey in the 2008 Copa Libertadores. He showed amazing defensive skills against many strong teams. Sadly, he got injured during the Round of 16 games. Another player, Renán Calle, took his place for the rest of the tournament. His team made history by becoming the first team from Ecuador to win the Copa Libertadores.
FIFA Club World Cup Experience
Calderón became a regular starter again for Liga de Quito in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. He played in both important matches. These were against Pachuca and Manchester United. Liga de Quito won against Pachuca 2–0 in the semifinals. However, they lost the final game to Manchester United by a score of 1–0. Diego and his teammates played very well throughout the whole tournament.
Playing in the USA
Later, in 2013, Diego was loaned to the Colorado Rapids team in the USA. He missed a lot of that season because he had to have knee surgery.
