Dilhani Ekanayake (Sinhala: දිල්හානි ඒකනායක) was born on March 4, 1970. She is a very famous actress from Sri Lanka. You can see her in movies, plays, and TV shows. Many people know her as one of the most popular film actresses in Sri Lankan cinema. She has won many awards for being a favorite actress.

About Her Life

Dilhani Ekanayake went to school at St Clare's Girls School in Colombo. She is married to Priyankara Perera, who is a singer and actor. His father, J. A. Milton Perera, was also a famous singer. Dilhani and Priyankara have a son named Dilmin Perera.

In 2020, her husband Priyankara had a serious health issue. He needed a kidney transplant.

Her Acting Journey

Before she started acting in movies, Dilhani performed in ballets. These included Vishwa Geethaya and Saama. In 1987, she danced in a ballet called Ukussa.

Dilhani's first movie was Dedunnen Samanaliyak in 1991. It was directed by Yasapalitha Nanayakkara. That same year, she won an award for the Best Upcoming Actress. In 1992, she won another award for being the Most Popular Actress.

At first, she mostly acted in fun, commercial films. People loved her dancing skills and her famous smile. Some even called her the Sridevi of Sri Lanka. Later, she took on more serious roles. One of her most notable roles was in the film Me Mage Sandai. In this movie, she played a Tamil girl who was left alone. This role helped her get other important parts. She acted in films like Sudu Kalu Saha Alu and Sulanga.

In 2005, she won the Best Actress award for her role in Sudu Kalu Saha Alu. Then, in 2007, she won the Presidential award for Best Actress for her work in Sulanga. She has also been in many other movies, including comedies like Cheriyo Darling.

Besides movies, Dilhani has acted in many TV dramas. Some of her well-known TV shows are Maya Ranga and Amarapuraya. She also performs in a popular annual show called Ridee Reyak. She has been a judge on TV shows like Ranawiru Real Star. Dilhani has also been a brand ambassador for Lux, a well-known brand.
