Dinckley Brook
Dinckley Brook

Dinckley Brook is a small stream located in Lancashire, England. It begins where several smaller streams join together near Wheatley Farm, close to the village of Copster Green. From there, it flows north, winding its way through pretty woodlands and under old bridges.

Exploring Dinckley Brook

Dinckley Brook starts its journey by flowing through Cunliffe House Wood. It then passes under Dinckley Bridge. Near this bridge, another stream called Park Brook joins it, adding to its flow.

The brook continues its path past areas like Brockhall, Great Wood, and Bradyll. You might even spot it flowing near the training grounds of the famous football team, Blackburn Rovers. After passing through Mill Wood, Dinckley Brook soon reaches its end. It flows into the much larger River Ribble.

What is a Tributary?

A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger one. Think of it like a branch joining a main tree trunk. Dinckley Brook has several tributaries that feed into it, making it grow bigger as it flows.

Streams That Join Dinckley Brook

Several other streams contribute their water to Dinckley Brook. These are its tributaries.

Park Brook

One important tributary is Park Brook. It meets Dinckley Brook very close to Dinckley Bridge. Park Brook itself starts where two other streams combine: Showley Brook and Tottering Brook.

Where Park Brook's Water Comes From

Showley Brook starts at Showley Fold Farm. Tottering Brook flows from Hawkshaw Fold, which is just east of Osbaldeston. Another small stream, Zechariah Brook, also adds its water to this system. It flows north from Hillside, near the "Top of Ramsgreave".

Showley Brook's Journey

Showley Brook is quite important on its own. It drains water from the area around Wilpshire as it moves west. It also gets water from Knotts Brook. Knotts Brook is special because it feeds into Parsonage Reservoir, which is a place where water is stored.
