Team History
The Dinos team started on September 28, 2016. It was named after an older semi-professional team. That older team also played in Saltillo from 1995 to 1996.
The Dinos joined the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional in the 2017 season. Their first head coach was Guillermo Ruiz Burguete. They finished the season with two wins and five losses. Even with that record, they made it to the playoffs. They won the North Division championship by beating Raptors. This win sent them to the Tazón México, which is like the league's championship game. In their first year, the Dinos lost the Tazón México to the Mayas by a score of 18–24. This game was played in Mexico City.
For the 2018 season, the Dinos got a new coaching team. Carlos Cabral became the head coach. The Dinos had a good regular season with four wins and three losses. They made it to the playoffs for the second year in a row. They were the top team in their division. In a rematch of the 2017 game, the Dinos lost to the Raptors 6–21 in the Division Championship game.
Javier Adame as Head Coach
In May 2018, Javier Adame became the Dinos' new head coach. He had worked with the Dinos before as their offensive line coach. He started coaching the team for the 2019 season.
From when they started until 2021, the Dinos played their home games at the Estadio Olímpico Francisco I. Madero. In 2022, the team moved to the Estadio Francisco I. Madero. This happened because of an agreement with the Saraperos de Saltillo baseball team.
In the 2022 season, the Dinos had the best record in the regular season. However, they lost to Gallos Negros in the playoffs.
Team Rivals
Dinos vs. Fundidores de Monterrey
The Fundidores and the Dinos are both from northern Mexico. They have been rivals in their division since 2017. Their rivalry goes back even further. In the late 1990s, teams from Saltillo (the Dinosaurios) and Monterrey (the Cerveceros) had intense games. This rivalry is not just on the field. Both teams also try to get the best college players from Nuevo León and Coahuila each season.
