Dionna M. Harris was born on March 4, 1968. She is an American former softball player. She played as a second baseman and outfielder. Dionna is famous for being an Olympic champion. She won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

Dionna Harris's Softball Journey

Dionna Harris started playing softball in her hometown. She went to Delcastle Technical High School in Wilmington, Delaware. After high school, she continued playing at Delaware Technical Community College.

College Softball Star

Dionna then went to Temple University. She played for the Temple Owls softball team. She was a very good player there. In 1990, she was even named the Temple University Player of the Year. She played second base for the team.

Playing for Top Teams

After college, Dionna joined the Amateur Softball Association. This is a big organization for softball players. She played as an outfielder for two well-known teams. From 1990 to 1994, she played for the Connecticut Brakettes. Then, from 1995 to 1996, she played for the California Jazz.

Winning Gold for Team USA

Dionna Harris was also a part of the United States National team. She played for Team USA from 1993 to 1996. During this time, she won many gold medals in major competitions:

  • 1994 PanAm Games
  • 1995 Australian Games
  • 1996 Olympic Games

Her biggest win was at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. She helped her team win the gold medal in softball. This is a huge achievement for any athlete!

In 2001, Dionna Harris was honored for her amazing career. She was added to the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame. This means her achievements are remembered and celebrated.
