The Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame is a special place in Wilmington, Delaware. It celebrates amazing athletes and important people from Delaware's sports history. This museum was started in 1976.
One of its founders was Al Cartwright. He was also the first president of the museum. Al Cartwright was even added to the Hall of Fame himself in 1980. The museum is part of a bigger group called the International Sports Heritage Association.
Inside the museum, you can find the Izzy Katzman Sports Library. This library is named after Izzy Katzman, who was a Hall of Fame member since 1993. It's a great place to learn more about sports history.
What is the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame?
The Delaware Sports Hall of Fame honors people who have made a big difference in sports. These people might be athletes, coaches, or others who helped sports grow in Delaware. When someone is "inducted," it means they are officially added to this special group.
Many people have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since 1976. Each year, new members are chosen. These members come from many different sports. They include famous names like Judy Johnson, a baseball legend, and Dallas Green, a well-known baseball player and manager.
Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a huge honor. It means their achievements in sports will be remembered for a long time.
