Dwayne Allen Henry (born February 16, 1962) is a former professional baseball player. He was a talented relief pitcher, which means he came into games to pitch after the starting pitcher. Henry played for several teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States. He also played baseball in other countries, including Japan and Taiwan.

Dwayne Henry's Baseball Journey
Dwayne Henry had an exciting career playing baseball for many years. He started his journey in the United States and later played in different leagues around the world. His skills as a pitcher made him a valuable player for many teams.
Early Career and MLB Debut
Dwayne Henry was chosen by a team in the 1980 Major League Baseball Draft. This meant he was picked to play professional baseball. He made his first appearance in Major League Baseball on September 7, 1984. This was a big moment for him.
In his very first MLB game, he showed his pitching talent. He recorded his first Major League strikeout against a player named Chris Speier. Henry played for the Texas Rangers from 1984 to 1988. He then joined the Atlanta Braves for the 1989 and 1990 seasons.
Playing Around the World
After playing for the Braves, Henry continued his MLB career with the Houston Astros in 1991. He then pitched for the Cincinnati Reds in 1992 and 1993. Later in 1993, he also played for the Seattle Mariners. His final MLB team was the Detroit Tigers in 1995.
Dwayne Henry's baseball journey wasn't just in the United States. In 1994, he played in Japan for the Chunichi Dragons in Nippon Professional Baseball. He also played in Taiwan in the Chinese Professional Baseball League. There, he pitched for the Wei Chuan Dragons in 1997 and 1998. Later, in 2000, he played for the Chinatrust Whales.
Henry also spent time in other baseball leagues. He played in Minor League Baseball for the Colorado Rockies in 1996. He joined the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball with the Somerset Patriots in 1998 and 1999. He also played for the Newark Bears in 2001. Finally, he played in the Mexican League for the Broncos de Reynosa in 2001.
Life After Baseball
Dwayne Henry's professional baseball career ended when the Detroit Tigers released him on October 12, 1995. Even after his playing days, his contributions to sports were recognized. In 2011, he was honored by being inducted into the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame. This is a special award for athletes who have achieved great things.
