Tim Wilson (born January 14, 1954 – died November 23, 1996) was an American football player. He played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Houston Oilers and the New Orleans Saints.

Tim Wilson was known for being a "lead blocker." This means he would run in front of another player, like Hall of Fame running back Earl Campbell, to clear a path for them. He helped his teammates gain many yards.

He played college football at the University of Maryland. Later, his son, Josh Wilson, also played in the NFL. In 1991, Tim Wilson was honored by being added to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame. This special place celebrates great athletes from Delaware.

Tim Wilson's Football Journey

Tim Wilson started his football career in college. He played for the Maryland Terrapins. He was a strong player who showed great skill on the field.

After college, Tim was chosen to play in the NFL. This is called being "drafted." He was picked by the Houston Oilers in 1977. He played for them for six seasons, from 1977 to 1982.

During his time with the Oilers, he helped his team a lot. He was especially good at blocking for Earl Campbell, one of the best running backs ever. Tim's blocking helped Earl Campbell become a superstar.

Moving to New Orleans

After playing for the Houston Oilers, Tim Wilson joined the New Orleans Saints. He played for the Saints for two seasons, in 1983 and 1984. He continued to be a valuable player for his team.

Tim Wilson's career showed how important teamwork is in football. Even though he wasn't always the one scoring touchdowns, his work as a blocker was key to his team's success.

Family and Legacy

Tim Wilson's love for football was passed down to his family. His son, Josh Wilson, also became a professional football player. Josh played college football at the University of Maryland, just like his father.

Josh Wilson was drafted into the NFL by the Seattle Seahawks in 2007. It is special for a father and son to both play in the NFL. Tim Wilson's legacy lives on through his family and his contributions to the sport.
