Her Art Career
Dionne Simpson creates amazing artwork using a special technique. Her art often uses a method from West Africa. This method involves carefully pulling threads through a canvas.
When she pulls the threads, it creates interesting textures and spaces on the canvas. Then, she adds colorful pigments to these areas. This makes her artwork even more beautiful and unique.
In 2004, Dionne Simpson achieved something very special. She became the first person to win the national RBC Canadian Painting Competition. She won this big award for her artwork called Urban e_Scape 13. This award helped her become even more recognized as a talented artist.
