Meet the Diploplecta Spiders
As of May 2019, there are seven known types, or species, of Diploplecta spiders. All of them live in New Zealand.
Here are the different species:
- Diploplecta adjacens – Discovered by Millidge in 1988.
- Diploplecta communis – Also found by Millidge in 1988, this is the main example or type species for the group. A type species is like the original example that helps scientists define the whole group.
- Diploplecta duplex – Identified by Millidge in 1988.
- Diploplecta nuda – Described by Millidge in 1988.
- Diploplecta opaca – Named by Millidge in 1988.
- Diploplecta proxima – Identified by Millidge in 1988.
- Diploplecta simplex – Discovered by Millidge in 1988.
