How Diriá Started
Diriá became an official district on September 3, 1976. Before that, it was part of another district called Bolsón. A special government decision, called a "Decreto Ejecutivo," created it.

Diriá covers an area of about 66.26 square kilometers. That's roughly 25.5 square miles. It is located about 40 meters (131 feet) above sea level.
