Domingo Garcia Bryant, born on December 8, 1963, is a former American football player. He played as a safety. Domingo played for the Houston Oilers in the National Football League (NFL). He was picked by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1986 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football at Texas A&M University. He also played for the Pittsburgh Gladiators in the Arena Football League (AFL).

Early Life and Beginnings

Domingo Garcia Bryant was born in Nacogdoches, Texas. This was on December 8, 1963. He grew up and went to Garrison High School in Garrison, Texas. After high school, he worked in a flower shop during the summer.

College Football Career

Domingo Bryant was a key player for the Texas A&M Aggies. He played for them from 1982 to 1985. He was a "letterman" for all four years. This means he played well enough to earn a special award.

Freshman Year Highlights

In 1982, Domingo became the first freshman defensive back to start for the Aggies since 1972. He made two interceptions that year. He was also named to the second-team All-Southwest Conference (SWC). This was a big honor for a young player.

Later College Success

In 1983, he had one interception. In 1984, he made two more interceptions. One of these he returned 47 yards for a touchdown. His senior year in 1985 was very strong. He had four interceptions for 95 yards. He also scored two touchdowns from these interceptions. His interception return yards were the most in the SWC that season. Professional Football Journey

Domingo Bryant started his professional career in the National Football League (NFL). He was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1986 NFL draft. He was the 148th player picked overall.

Time with the Steelers

The Steelers signed Domingo on July 10, 1986. However, he was waived by the team on September 4, 1986. This means he was released from their roster.

Playing for the Houston Oilers

Domingo then signed with the Houston Oilers on November 13, 1986. He was waived again in September 1987. But he rejoined the team later that month during a player strike. He stayed with the Oilers after the strike ended.

Return to the Oilers
