Domingo Ortiz de Rozas (1721 – 1785) was an important Spanish nobleman. He served as a Captain in the Royal Guards, a special group of soldiers who protected the Spanish kings and queens. He was also a military officer and worked for the government.

Domingo Ortiz de Rozas was born in Seville, Spain, in 1721. His parents were Bartolomé Ortiz de Rozas García de Villasuso and María Antonia Rodillo de Brizuela. His family was well-known and came from Santander.
Early Military Career
Domingo began his military career as a cadet. A cadet is a young person training to be an officer in the armed forces. He joined the "Guardias de Corps." This was a special group of infantry soldiers. Their main job was to protect the Spanish monarchs.
Journey to Buenos Aires
In 1742, King Ferdinand VI of Spain sent Domingo to Buenos Aires, Argentina. He traveled to the port of Buenos Aires with his uncle, Domingo Ortiz de Rozas y García de Villasuso. His uncle later became the Governor of the Río de la Plata region.
Family Life and Legacy
Domingo Ortiz de Rozas married twice. His first wife was Catalina de La Cuadra. After she passed away, he married Gregoria Antonia de Gogenola on May 11, 1745, in Buenos Aires.
Domingo and his first wife had a son named León Ortiz de Rozas. Domingo's grandson was Juan Manuel de Rosas. Juan Manuel became a very important political leader in Argentina during the first half of the 1800s.
