Dominik Paris (born April 14, 1989) is a famous Italian alpine ski racer. He is super good at fast skiing events like Super-G and Downhill. In 2019, he became a world champion! He won the gold medal in the Super-G event at the World Championships in Åre, Sweden.

Racing Career

Dominik Paris started his World Cup journey in December 2008. This is where top skiers from around the world compete. He won his very first World Cup race in December 2012 in Bormio, Italy. It was a tie in the Downhill event with another skier, Hannes Reichelt. This was a super close race!

Just four weeks later, Dominik showed everyone he was a top Downhill racer. He won another big race at Kitzbühel, Austria. This course is called the Streif and is known for being very tough.

At the 2013 World Championships in Austria, Dominik won a silver medal in the Downhill. He was just a little bit behind the gold medalist, Aksel Lund Svindal.

Dominik got his first win in the Super-G event at Kitzbühel in 2015. The next day, he came in second in the Downhill race there. Two years later, in 2017, he won his second Downhill race on the Streif course. In 2019, he won his third Downhill race at Kitzbühel, completing a "hat trick"! This means he won three times. Only a few other skiers have won this many times on that famous course.

In the 2019 season, Dominik had an amazing year. He won two races in Bormio and two more in Kvitfjell. He also won two races at the World Cup finals in Soldeu. Because of his great performance, he won his first "crystal globe" in the Super-G event. A crystal globe is a special trophy given to the skier who is the best in a certain discipline for the whole season. A month before that, he won the gold medal in Super-G at the World Championships in Åre, Sweden.

Dominik started the 2019–2020 season strong. He finished second in the first two speed events in Lake Louise, Canada. In December 2019, he won two Downhill races in a row in Bormio. This made him the first skier ever to win five Downhill races on the Stelvio course in Bormio. Sadly, in late January 2020, he got a serious knee injury during training. This injury, called an ACL injury, meant his season had to end early.

As of December 2023, Dominik Paris has won 23 World Cup races. He has also stood on the podium (finished in the top three) 45 times!
