Dominique Fernandez (born August 25, 1929) is a famous French writer. He writes novels, essays, and travel books. He won the Prix Goncourt in 1982 for a novel about Pier Paolo Pasolini. In 2007, he became a member of the important Académie Française.

His writing career started in 1958. He wrote a study about modern Italian novels. After that, he worked as a literary critic. He wrote for a weekly magazine called L'Express. In 1961, he married Diane de Margerie. They had two children, a son named Ramon and a daughter named Laetitia. They later divorced in 1971.
