Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Domori is an Italian company that makes delicious chocolate products. Their main office is in a town called None, near Turin, Italy. Since 2006, Domori has been part of the Illy Group, which is another well-known Italian company.

The Story of Domori Chocolate

Domori was started in 1997 by a person named Gianluca Franzoni. A few years before, in 1993, Gianluca went all the way to Venezuela. He wanted to learn about different types of cocoa beans. His goal was to protect a very special and rare kind of cocoa called Criollo. This special cocoa grows at a place called Hacienda San José plantation.

What Makes Domori Chocolate Special?

Domori makes chocolate using six different types of Criollo cocoa. Some of these are named Puertomar and Puertofino. They even make a chocolate bar that is 100% Criollo cocoa! This means it has no extra ingredients like lecithin (which helps chocolate stay smooth) or other flavors added.

Domori's Other Sweet Creations

In 2012, Domori's parent company, Illycaffè, worked with Coca-Cola to create cold chocolate drinks. Besides making chocolate bars for people to buy, Domori also makes large amounts of chocolate. This bulk chocolate is used by professional chocolatiers to create their own treats.

In 2015, Domori showed off its cold chocolate drink, called Crema Cacao. They did this at a big event called the Milan World Expo.
