Donalda is a small village located in central Alberta, Canada. It is found east of the town of Ponoka. The village was officially founded in 1911.
Donalda got its name from Donalda Crossway, whose uncle, Sir Donald Mann, worked for the Canadian Northern Railway. Before it was called Donalda, the village was known as Eidswold. This name was given by the Norwegian settlers who first started the community. The name changed to Donalda in 1910 when the railway line reached the area.
One of the most famous things about Donalda is the "World's Largest Oil Lamp." This giant lamp stands at 12.8 meters (about 42 feet) tall. It is one of the many large roadside attractions known as the Giants of the Prairies.
