About Dondria Nicole
How Dondria Started Singing
Dondria was born in Dover, Oklahoma, and grew up in Sachse, Texas. She started singing when she was very young in her church choir. In 2006, when she was 19, Dondria created a YouTube channel. She used the name "Phatfffat" to share her singing videos online.
She gained many followers on YouTube. Soon, Jermaine Dupri, who founded So So Def Recordings, noticed her. He contacted her through YouTube messages. After a few messages, Dondria flew to Atlanta to meet him. In 2007, she signed a recording contract with So So Def Recordings.
Her First Album: Dondria Vs. Phatfffat
In 2008, Dondria released a song called "Can't Stop." This song was used to promote her upcoming first album. She also sang on a song called "Like This" with the rapper Bow Wow. This song was on his 2009 album, New Jack City II.
Dondria released a free collection of songs called "Dondria Duets" in 2009. She took popular R&B songs sung by male artists and added her own parts to them, making them duets. This collection helped promote her single "You're The One".
Her first album, Dondria Vs. Phatfffat, was released on August 17, 2010. The song "You're The One" became the main single from the album. It did very well on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, reaching number 14. It also charted on the Christian Songs chart. Her second single was "Shawty Wus Up," featuring Johntá Austin and Diamond. Dondria also went on tour with Trey Songz and Monica in 2010.
More Music: Dondria Duets and EPs
After her first album, Dondria continued to make music. She released "Dondria Duets 2" in 2011. She has kept a large fan base on YouTube, with over 120,000 subscribers.
She planned to release "Dondria Duets III: 90s Edition" in 2012. Jermaine Dupri later said this would be the last in the "Duets" series. However, Dondria would then make a full album of original duet songs. "Dondria Duets III: 90s Edition" came out online on February 1, 2012. Her first official single for her second album was "Ol School Love," featuring Da Brat.
In 2017, Dondria released an EP (which is like a mini-album) called "The Day of The Don." This EP had six original songs about relationships. Dondria helped write these songs.
On Valentine's Day in 2018, Dondria surprised her fans by releasing "Dondria Duets 4." This collection included her remixes of popular songs by other artists. Later in 2018, she released another EP called "A Tale of Hearts." This was a duet project with her childhood friend and YouTube partner, Corey "Broadway" Stevenson.
In 2021, Dondria released a new song called "Let It Be." Bryan-Michael Cox produced the song, and Dondria helped write it.
