Donnelly is a small village in northern Alberta, Canada. It is part of the Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130. You can find it near where Highway 2 and Highway 49 meet.
Donnelly is about 65 km (40 mi) south of Peace River. It is also about 427 km (265 mi) northwest of Edmonton, Alberta's capital city.
Discover Donnelly's Past
Donnelly has an interesting history. In 1912, a group of 14 settlers arrived in this area. They came from a place called Grouard. Marie-Anne Leblanc Gravel was the very first person to start a homestead here.
The community was later named after a railroad worker. His name was Mr. Donnelly.
