Where Does Donoho Creek Start and End?

Donoho Creek begins in an area about 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of Westbrook, North Carolina. This starting point is near a high area called the Carvers Creek divide. A "divide" is like a ridge where water flows in different directions.

From its start, Donoho Creek flows towards the southeast. It travels a short distance before joining the larger Cape Fear River. The creek meets the river about 0.25 miles (0.4 km) northeast of Westbrook.

What is a Watershed?

Every stream and river has a "watershed." A watershed is all the land area where water drains into that specific stream or river. Think of it like a big bowl where all the rain and snowmelt eventually flow into one main waterway.

Donoho Creek's watershed covers about 2.04 square miles (5.28 square kilometers). This area gets a good amount of rain each year, around 50.3 inches (128 cm). About 20% of the land in this watershed is covered by forests.
