Dontae' Antijuaine Jones (born June 2, 1975) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a Small forward. He was once a player for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Dontae' Jones is an American former professional basketball player. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He is known for his college basketball career and for playing in many different countries. After he stopped playing professionally, he began helping young basketball players.

Early Life and College Basketball

Dontae' Jones started his college basketball journey at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He was an amazing player there. He became the school's all-time leader in points, rebounds, and blocked shots. This means he scored more points, grabbed more rebounds, and blocked more shots than any other player in the school's history! As a special honor, his jersey number 32 was retired by the school. After playing two seasons, he transferred to Mississippi State University to finish his college career.

College Achievements

In 1996, Dontae' Jones achieved something big. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 1996 SEC men's basketball tournament. He led his team, Mississippi State, to win their first-ever SEC Tournament championship. They even beat the top-ranked University of Kentucky team in the final game. That same year, he helped Mississippi State reach the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four. This is a huge tournament where the best college teams compete. Along the way, he also earned a Regional MVP award. In 2016, Dontae' Jones and his teammates from the 1995–96 Bulldog team were honored. They were inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.

NBA Draft and First Team

In 1996, Dontae' was chosen in the 1996 NBA draft. The New York Knicks picked him as the 21st player overall. However, he was traded to the Boston Celtics before the 1997–98 NBA season began. He was traded along with other players like Walter McCarty and John Thomas. This trade happened because he had a foot injury and didn't play any games with the Knicks in the 1996–97 season. He then played for the Boston Celtics.

Playing Around the World

After his time in the NBA, Dontae' Jones continued his basketball career. He played for the Memphis Houn'Dawgs in the American Basketball Association (ABA). He also played basketball in many different countries around the world. These countries included Greece, Turkey, Italy, South Korea, and China. Playing internationally allowed him to experience different styles of basketball and cultures.

Helping Young Basketball Players

As of November 2012, Dontae' Jones has been working to help young people. He is the program director at the Nashville Youth Basketball Association (NYBA). This organization helps young people in the middle Tennessee area and Nashville city improve their basketball skills. He is known as a highly respected coach for young players.
