History of Dooling
The town of Dooling was officially created in 1907 by the Georgia General Assembly. This means it became a recognized town with its own local government.
The community got its name from Ellen Dooling. She was the wife of one of the first people to settle in the area. A post office was opened in Dooling in 1890. It helped people send and receive mail for many years, until it closed in 1960.

Dooling is located in the northwestern part of Dooly County. It's about 9 miles southeast of Montezuma, which is the closest city. It's also about 12 miles west of Unadilla and 14 miles northwest of Vienna. Vienna is the main town in Dooly County.
