Unadilla is a city located in Dooly County, Georgia, in the United States. In 2020, about 3,118 people lived there. The city is also home to Dooly State Prison, which is in its northeast part.

History of Unadilla
The name "Unadilla" comes from the Iroquois language. It means "council place," which suggests it was once a meeting spot. The state of Georgia officially made Unadilla a town in 1891. This means it was given the power to govern itself.
On December 31, 2006, a strong tornado, called an F2 tornado, hit the edges of Unadilla. This was a notable event because it was the very last tornado in the United States to be measured using the old Fujita scale. The next day, a new, more accurate way to measure tornadoes, called the Enhanced Fujita scale, was put into use.
Geography and Location
Unadilla is in the northern part of Dooly County. It is located at 32°15′35″N 83°44′12″W / 32.259796°N 83.736535°W.
Major Roads and Travel
U.S. Route 41 runs right through the middle of Unadilla. It is known as Pine Street in the city. This road goes north about 16 miles (26 km) to Perry. If you go south, it leads about 13 miles (21 km) to Vienna, which is the main town of Dooly County.
Interstate 75 is a big highway that passes through the west side of Unadilla. You can get on or off I-75 at Exits 121 and 122. This interstate goes north about 43 miles (69 km) to Macon. It also goes south about 61 miles (98 km) to Tifton.
Another important road is Georgia State Route 230. It goes through Unadilla as Second Street and Borum Street. This route heads southwest about 11 miles (18 km) to Byromville. It also goes east about 18 miles (29 km) to Hawkinsville.

Since 2017, Unadilla has hosted a special annual event called the Hog Drop on New Year's Eve. It's a big celebration to welcome the new year.
The Hog Drop Celebration
The Hog Drop event happens at the same time as the Hog Drop Invitational BBQ competition. This competition is organized by Unadilla's mayor, Myron Mixon, who is also a famous BBQ expert. The event includes many fun activities for families, such as live music, fireworks, and even pig racing! The main part of the event is when a pig-shaped sign is lowered at midnight. This is how the event got its unique name.
