Double Arch is an amazing pair of natural arches found in Arches National Park in Utah, United States. It's one of the most famous sights in the park, known for its unique shape. These arches are located in southern Grand County.

What Makes Double Arch Special?

Getting to Double Arch is easy! There's a parking area, and from there, it's about a 0.5-mile (0.8 km) walk to the arches and back. The path is even friendly for wheelchairs, though some help might be needed. Unlike some other places, there are no fences here. This means you can explore right underneath and through the arches themselves!

Double Arch was formed in a very special way, different from most other arches in the park. It's called a pothole arch. This means it was created by water wearing away the rock from above, rather than from the sides. Imagine water collecting in a dip on top of the rock and slowly carving its way down!

The larger opening of Double Arch is huge. It stretches about 148 feet (45 meters wide) across. It also stands very tall, reaching about 104 feet (32 meters) high. These measurements make it the tallest opening in Arches National Park. It also has the second-longest span in the entire park.

You might have even seen Double Arch in a movie! The area was used in the opening scene of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The arches appear briefly in the background. However, the cave shown in the movie isn't actually there in real life.
