Professional Basketball Journey

Doug Kramer had a long and successful career in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Starting with Air21 Express

Doug was picked fifth overall in the 2007 PBA draft by the Air21 Express. He signed a three-year contract worth 7,000,000.

Moving to Barangay Ginebra Kings

In 2009, Doug was traded to the Barangay Ginebra Kings along with JC Intal. However, because Ginebra had many talented players, Doug often sat on the bench and didn't get to play much.

Back to Air21

In 2010, Doug returned to Air21 in another trade. He played some of his best games during this time. He set a personal record for rebounds twice! On June 20, 2010, he had 16 points and 17 rebounds against his old team, Ginebra. Then, on July 4, 2010, he got 17 points and 17 rebounds against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Playing for Rain or Shine

Before the 2010 PBA draft, Doug was traded to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. He immediately made an impact, scoring a career-high 19 points in his first game on October 6, 2010. He tied that record later in a win against the San Miguel Beermen.

In his second conference with Rain or Shine, Doug was a top local player. He averaged 9.56 points and 7.67 rebounds per game. This was one of his best performances in the PBA.

Time with Powerade Tigers

After being traded to the Powerade Tigers, Doug continued to shine. On November 9, 2011, he grabbed an amazing 20 rebounds against the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters, breaking his previous record.

During the 2011–12 Philippine Cup, Doug had nine "double-doubles" (meaning he scored double digits in both points and rebounds). He averaged 11.64 points and 10.57 rebounds per game, which were career highs for him. He was one of only four players to average a double-double in that conference.

Doug helped Powerade reach Game 5 of the finals against Talk 'N Text. In Game 3 of that series, he set an all-time career high with 23 rebounds! He ended that conference with 18 double-doubles, the second most in the league. He also led the league in total rebounds with 303.

Joining Barako Bull Energy Cola

On May 4, 2012, Doug was traded to the Barako Bull Energy Cola. With only four months left on his contract, Barako signed him for three more years. He finished the 2011–12 season with the second-best rebounding average in the league. He also had 22 double-doubles, the second most that season. For his great defense, he was named to the All-Defensive team for the first time.

Playing for Petron Blaze / San Miguel

On August 12, 2013, Doug was traded to the Petron Blaze Boosters, which later became the San Miguel Beermen.

GlobalPort Batang Pier

In 2016, Doug was traded to the GlobalPort Batang Pier.

Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters and Retirement

In October 2016, Doug faced a health challenge when he had a mild stroke. Doctors discovered he had a small hole in his heart from birth. He had a minor procedure to fix it and didn't play basketball for four months.

On February 4, 2017, Doug made a strong return to the court for Phoenix. He scored nine points and had 12 rebounds in his first game back.

Doug played his last PBA game when Phoenix won against the Blackwater Elite. He scored three points, grabbed ten rebounds, and blocked three shots. He retired from professional basketball after that season.
