Douwe Bob Posthuma (born on December 12, 1992), known as Douwe Bob, is a singer and songwriter from the Netherlands. He became famous after winning a Dutch TV talent show. Douwe Bob sings folk and country music. He has released several albums and even represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

Douwe Bob's Early Life
Douwe Bob Posthuma was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on December 12, 1992. His family comes from Friesland. His father, Simon Posthuma, was part of a design group called The Fool.
Douwe Bob started playing the piano when he was six years old. He first focused on classical music and jazz. When he was 14, he began playing the guitar. He found inspiration for his singing in country, folk, and pop music from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Douwe Bob's Music Career
Starting His Career: Born in a Storm
In 2012, Douwe Bob joined a Dutch TV show called De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland. This show looked for the best singer-songwriter in the Netherlands. He performed songs like "Standing Here Helpless" and "Icarus". In the final, he sang "Multicoloured Angels" with Dutch singer Tim Knol. Douwe Bob won the show, and his song "Multicoloured Angels" became a hit, reaching number 17 on the Dutch Top 40 music chart.
His first album, Born in a Storm, came out on May 3, 2013. Many of the songs on the album were written during a trip to Morocco. In June 2013, Douwe Bob performed at the Pinkpop Festival.

Eurovision and Fool Bar
On May 6, 2016, Douwe Bob released his third album, Fool Bar. This album also came out through Universal Music Group. It reached number four on the Dutch Albums Chart.
Douwe Bob represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm. He sang his song "Slow Down". He performed in the semi-finals and then in the final on May 10 and 14, 2016. He finished in eleventh place in the final, earning 153 points. The next year, he was the Dutch spokesperson for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.
Recent Work: The Shape I'm In and Film Music
On April 21, 2017, Douwe Bob was announced as a coach for the seventh season of The Voice Kids. This TV show started on February 23, 2018. He did not return for the next season and was replaced by Anouk.
On November 9, 2018, Douwe Bob released his fourth album, The Shape I'm In. He described this album as being about a breakup. In 2019, he wrote the main song for the Dutch movie Singel 39. He also had a small part in the film. The movie was very popular and won the Golden Film award after selling 100,000 tickets.
Douwe Bob also appeared on the 2023 season of The Masked Singer.
