People from Europe first settled in Doyle Township in 1858.

Towns and Communities
This township includes a few places:
- The eastern part of the city of Florence. The western part of Florence is in a different township called Fairplay Township.
- A ghost town called Hampson. A ghost town is a place where people used to live, but now almost no one does.

- The Florence City Cemetery, also known as Hillcrest Cemetery. It is located in Section 6 T21S R5E.
Transportation
Two important roads pass through Doyle Township. These are U.S. Route 50 and U.S. Route 77. These roads help people travel to and from the township.
