Dražan Jerković (born August 6, 1936 – died December 9, 2008) was a famous football player and manager from Yugoslavia and Croatia. He played as a striker, which means he was a main goal scorer for his team. His professional playing career lasted from 1954 to 1966.
He played for two main clubs: Dinamo Zagreb and AA La Gantoise. Sometimes, his first name is spelled "Dražen" by mistake. He was born in a city called Šibenik.

Playing Football
Club Career
Dražan Jerković spent most of his playing career with Dinamo Zagreb. He played for them from 1954 to 1965. Sadly, he had to stop playing football early because of serious injuries.
Even with injuries, he helped Dinamo Zagreb win important titles. They won the league championship in 1958. They also won the league cup in 1960 and 1965. He was an amazing scorer, getting 300 goals in 315 games for Dinamo.
Playing for His Country
Jerković also played for the Yugoslavia national team. He played 21 games and scored 11 goals between 1960 and 1964. He took part in two big international tournaments.
He played in the 1960 European Championship. In the semi-final, he scored two goals against France. Yugoslavia won that game 5-4. They reached the final but lost to the USSR, finishing in second place.
Jerković also played in the 1962 FIFA World Cup. He was one of the best players in that tournament. He scored four goals, making him the top goalscorer. He shared this honor with five other players, winning the World Cup Golden Boot. Yugoslavia finished fourth in the World Cup that year.
He also played one special game for the Croatia national team in 1956. This was a friendly match against Indonesia. His very last international game was a friendly against Austria in September 1964.
Becoming a Manager
After he stopped playing, Dražan Jerković became a football manager. He had a very important role for his home country. He was the first manager of the Croatia national team after Croatia became an independent country. He managed the team from 1990 to 1992.
Dražan Jerković passed away on December 9, 2008, in Zagreb.
