Dragon's Fury at RCDB

Dragon's Fury is an exciting spinning roller coaster at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in London, England. It opened in 2004. On this ride, you sit in cars that hold four people. These cars spin around as you go, making each ride a bit different! The whole idea is to feel like you're escaping a dragon's fury!

History of Dragon's Fury

How Dragon's Fury Began

Dragon's Fury was first announced in 2003. It was going to be the main attraction for a new area called Land of the Dragons at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. Both the ride and the new area opened in 2004.

The company that owned Chessington at the time, the Tussauds Group, bought this ride. They also bought a similar ride called Spinball Whizzer for Alton Towers. A designer named John Wardley created the special track layout for Dragon's Fury. He made sure it fit perfectly with the park's land. The ride even has two lift hills! It was built by a company called Maurer Söhne.

Changes and Safety Checks in 2015

In early 2015, parts of the ride's track were taken apart. This was done to fill them with sand. The sand helped to make the ride quieter for both park visitors and people living nearby. Other parts, like the lift hills, were also changed to reduce noise.

Later in June 2015, Dragon's Fury was temporarily closed. This happened while safety checks were being done on several rides across different parks. Other rides like Rattlesnake and Saw- The Ride at Thorpe Park were also checked. After the safety evaluations, all the rides, including Dragon's Fury, were reopened.

The Ride Experience

Dragon's Fury travels mostly around the edges of the Land of the Dragons area. The cars can hold four people. They are designed to spin more or less depending on how the weight is spread out. This means each ride can feel a little different!

You can even get an on-ride photo! It's taken at the bottom of the first big drop. As your car goes up the vertical turn, it starts to spin around. You can see the ride's track from many places in the park because it reaches a height of about 18 meters (59 feet). You can even spot it from outside the park! Because of its chain system, the lift hill can be quite loud. You might hear it even when you're a bit away from the Land of the Dragons area.
