Dreahook Creek facts for kids
Dreahook Creek is a small stream in Readington, New Jersey. It's like a smaller river that flows into a bigger one. Dreahook Creek is a "left tributary" of Holland Brook. This means it joins Holland Brook from the left side when you're looking downstream.
The creek starts on land owned by the township, close to Creek Road and Dreahook Road. As it flows, it meets another small stream called East Dreahook Creek. They join together on the east side of County Route 620. After that, Dreahook Creek flows into Holland Brook.

Why is it Called Dreahook Creek?
The creek gets its name from an old Dutch village called Dreahook. The name "Dreahook" comes from the Dutch word "Driehoek."
- "Drie" means three.
- "Hoek" means angle or corner.
So, "Driehoek" means triangle.
People believe the village was named "Triangle" because of how it was located. It formed a triangle with the early roads that led to other towns like Flemington, Whitehouse Station, Readington Village, and Pleasant Run. These roads have changed over time, but the name stuck!
