DreamWorks Water Park is an awesome indoor water park located inside the American Dream shopping and entertainment center. You can find it in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in the United States. This super fun park opened its doors on October 1, 2020. It's a huge place, covering about 8.5 acres, and it's packed with over 40 water slides and 15 exciting attractions.

Discovering DreamWorks Water Park

DreamWorks Water Park is a massive indoor water adventure. It's known as one of the biggest indoor water parks in the United States. The park is filled with rides and attractions based on your favorite DreamWorks movies. Imagine splashing around with characters from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar!

How the Water Park Was Built

The idea for the American Dream shopping center, where the water park is located, started way back in 1994. After some changes and delays, a company called Triple Five Group took over in 2011. They had big plans, including building both an amusement park and a water park.

In 2012, the head of DreamWorks Animation, Jeffrey Katzenberg, announced exciting news. He said that some of the attractions would be themed around DreamWorks movies. Later, in 2016, Triple Five shared that the indoor amusement park would become Nickelodeon Universe. DreamWorks Animation would then partner to create the water park.

Opening Day Challenges

The water park's opening date was announced several times. In 2018, Triple Five said it would open by the end of 2019. Then, it was moved to September 2019, and later to November 27, 2019. Surfers even started testing the huge wave pool in October 2019!

However, just six days before it was supposed to open, the park's opening was delayed again. This was due to some reasons that weren't shared. In February 2020, officials checked many of the rides. They approved 18 out of 27 rides for opening.

The park then announced a new opening date of March 19, 2020. But, because of the COVID-19 pandemic in New Jersey, the opening was delayed once more. Finally, on September 3, 2020, American Dream announced the new opening day. DreamWorks Water Park officially opened its doors on October 1, 2020, along with the rest of the mall.
