The Dreamworld Tower is a really tall structure, about 119 meters (390 feet) high. You can find it at the Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast in Australia. This amazing tower is home to two exciting rides: The Giant Drop and the former Tower of Terror II.

The Dreamworld Tower supports both the Tower of Terror II and the Giant Drop.

Building the Dreamworld Tower

The company that built this tower is called Intamin. They are famous for making awesome amusement rides. Just building the tower cost more than A$1 million!

This tower was special because it was the first of its kind. It was designed to hold more than one big amusement ride at the same time. Inside the tower, there's a staircase that goes all the way to the top. This helps the park staff keep the tower and its rides in great shape.

Exciting Rides at the Tower

The Dreamworld Tower is home to some incredible rides. Get ready to learn about the thrills they offer!

The Giant Drop: A Big Fall!

The Giant Drop is one of the tallest freefall rides in the world. When it first opened in 1998, it was the tallest! Riders drop an amazing 119 meters (390 feet).

On this ride, you go up the tower slowly. Then, you hang in the air for about 40 seconds. After that, you suddenly drop towards the ground at super-fast speeds, up to 135 kilometers per hour (84 mph)!

Tower of Terror II: Super Speed!

The Tower of Terror II was once one of the fastest roller coasters in the world. It opened on January 23, 1997. At that time, it was the tallest and fastest roller coaster anywhere!

Riders on this coaster would zoom up the tower at 160.9 kilometers per hour (100 mph). They would feel up to 4.5 Gs, which is like feeling 4.5 times your own weight! The ride track went almost to the very top of the tower. This exciting ride closed permanently on November 3, 2019.

Seeing the Tower from Far Away

The Dreamworld Tower is so tall that you can sometimes see it from far away. If the weather is clear, you might even spot it from Coochiemudlo Island in Moreton Bay. That's about 36 kilometers (22 miles) away!

There's another tall chimney near Jacobs' Well that can look similar. But if you're looking from Coochiemudlo Island's main beach, the Dreamworld Tower will appear to the right of that chimney.
