Dreher Island State Park is a fun place to visit in central South Carolina. It's about 30 miles (48 km) away from Columbia, the state's capital city. History of the Park

SCE&G built a very important structure called the Saluda Dam. This dam created Lake Murray, the large lake that surrounds the island. The park is mostly a heavily wooded island. The only way to get to it is by a bridge on its northern side.
