Drew's grandfather often did magic tricks. He would include Drew in these tricks when Drew was a child. This inspired Drew to become interested in acting and entertainment. In middle school, Drew joined a local group that performed improv. This is a type of acting where scenes are made up on the spot.
He went to Aldergrove Community Secondary School and later to W. J. Mouat Secondary School. He also played football. In school, Drew played the main role of John Proctor in a play called The Crucible. During his teenage years, he also started a rap music group with a friend.
