Drifton, Florida facts for kids
Drifton is a small, unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Florida, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own official local government like a city or town. Drifton is located close to where two main roads, US 19 and County Road 158, meet.
Long ago, Drifton was an important spot for trains. It was where two big train companies, the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, had their tracks cross. The Atlantic Coast Line had a famous train route called the Southland. The Seaboard Air Line had its own route, the Gulf Wind. The tracks for the Atlantic Coast Line are not used anymore. However, the old Seaboard Air Line tracks are now used by a different company, the Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad, which took them over in 2019.
