Team History
Drummondville had a QMJHL team before the Voltigeurs. It was called the Drummondville Rangers. That team played from 1969 to 1974. In the 1982–83 season, Drummondville got a new team. This was an expansion team, meaning a new team added to the league. The team was named after a special group of soldiers. These soldiers were called the Canadian Voltigeurs. They fought in the War of 1812.
The Voltigeurs have played in the Memorial Cup tournament three times. This is a big championship for junior hockey. They participated in 1988 and 1991 as the QMJHL runner-up. In 2009, they played as the League champions. The Voltigeurs won both the President's Cup and Jean Rougeau Trophy in the 2008–09 season. At the 2009 Memorial Cup, they finished second in the first round. However, they lost to the Windsor Spitfires in the semi-finals.
