Dušan Švento (born 1 August 1985) is a former professional football player from Slovakia. He played as a left winger or left-back. Dušan spent most of his playing career with two main clubs: Slavia Prague and Red Bull Salzburg. He also proudly represented his home country, Slovakia, in many international matches.
Playing for Clubs
In the summer of 2007, Dušan Švento visited an English club called Derby County. He went there for a trial to see if he would like to play for them. Other English clubs were also interested in him. However, his plans changed when he hurt his knee ligaments after returning to Prague. He needed surgery and could not play for almost a year.
After recovering from an injury in 2005, Švento played in an important match for Slavia Prague. This was a play-off game in the Czech First League against Brno FC.
On 16 June 2009, Dušan Švento joined Red Bull Salzburg. He signed a three-year contract with the club. The transfer fee for him was €2 million.
In June 2016, Dušan returned to his former club, Slavia Prague. He played there for another season.
After he stopped playing professionally, Švento rejoined Red Bull Salzburg in February 2019. This time, he took on a new role. He became the manager for the club's Under-12 team, helping young players develop their skills.
Playing for Slovakia
Dušan Švento made his first appearance for the senior Slovak national team on 15 August 2006. This was a friendly match against Malta. The coach at the time was Dušan Galis.
He scored his very first goal for the national team on 7 October 2006. This happened in an away game against Wales. Slovakia won that match with a score of 5-1.
