History of Duncan
Duncan was officially planned and marked out on a map in the year 1900. When it was first starting, in 1902, only about 25 people lived there. By 1925, the population was around 20. However, by 1940, it had grown to 75 people. The population was 131 at the 2010 census.
Geography and Location
Duncan is located in Hancock County, Iowa. You can find it about 4.6 miles (7.4 km) east of Britt. It is also about 5.4 miles (8.7 km) west of Garner. The community is situated along U.S. Route 18.

Education in Duncan
Students in Duncan attend schools that are part of the Garner–Hayfield–Ventura Community School District. Before July 1, 2015, Duncan was part of the Garner–Hayfield Community School District. That district then joined with another to form the current GHV district.
