Dunlap is a community in Ohio, United States. It is located in Hamilton County, within Colerain Township. Dunlap is known as a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for collecting statistics. It is not an officially incorporated city or town. In 2020, about 1,658 people lived in Dunlap. An important event called the siege of Dunlap's Station happened near here in 1791. This battle was part of the Northwest Indian War.

History of Dunlap
A big part of the land that is now Dunlap was first owned by William and Asher Williamson. They sold their land in 1849 to a person named Mr. Parker. He created many building plots along the Colerain Pike and Hamilton Road.
In 1850, Oliver S. Glisson, who was an officer in the United States Navy, hired a lawyer named Thomas S. Yeatman. Glisson wanted Yeatman to plan a new neighborhood south of the village. This new area was on the farm of Glisson's father, who had recently passed away.
George Struble built some of the first houses in the village. These houses were on his farmland, which was east of the main road. The village was first called Georgetown to honor him.
Early Businesses and Name Change
The very first business in Dunlap was a blacksmith shop. A blacksmith makes and repairs things out of metal. Asher Williamson opened the first store in the village. George Struble also opened the first hotel.
The Dunlap post office, which used to be in another part of Colerain Township, was moved to the village. Because the post office was named Dunlap, the village soon became known by that name too. By 1894, Dunlap had two churches, a schoolhouse, several stores, and some small businesses.
Geography of Dunlap
Dunlap is located about 15 miles (24 kilometers) north of downtown Cincinnati. U.S. Route 27 goes through the eastern part of Dunlap. Colerain Avenue is the main road that runs through the middle of the community.
The United States Census Bureau says that Dunlap covers a total area of about 6.7 square miles (17.3 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 6.5 square miles (16.9 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.13 square miles (0.4 square kilometers), is water.
People of Dunlap
In 2020, there were 1,658 people living in Dunlap. This means there were about 254 people for every square mile. There were 695 homes in the area.
Most of the people in Dunlap are White. There are also people from other racial backgrounds living in the community. About 1% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
