History of Dunn State Park

The land for Dunn State Park was a gift from a man named John Ainsworth Dunn. He was a furniture maker who lived in Gardner. When he passed away in 1915, he left the land to the city. Later, the land was given to the state to become the park we know today.

Parking at Dunn State Park

  • Annual Pass: If you plan to visit often, you can buy an annual pass. It costs $60 for Massachusetts residents and $85 for out-of-state visitors.
  • Free Parking: Some visitors can park for free. This includes vehicles with HP (Handicap) plates or placards, Disabled Veterans plates, and Massachusetts seniors aged 62 or older who have a special Mass. Senior Citizen Pass from the DCR. Free parking is available as long as there is space.
