Duván Esteban Zapata Banguero was born on April 1, 1991. He is a professional footballer from Colombia. Duván plays as a forward for the Italian club Torino.
He started his football journey with América de Cali in Colombia. Later, he moved to Argentina to play for Estudiantes. From 2013, Duván played in Italy's top league, Serie A. He played for famous clubs like Napoli, Udinese, Sampdoria, and Atalanta. At Atalanta, he became very well known, forming a strong attacking team with his fellow Colombian player, Luis Muriel.
Duván Zapata also plays for his country, Colombia. He first played for the senior national team in 2017. He also represented Colombia in the Copa América tournaments in 2019 and 2021.

Club Career Highlights
Early Days at América de Cali
Duván Zapata joined the youth team of América de Cali when he was 13 years old in 2004. He played his first game for the main team on May 18, 2008. In that game, he scored a goal, but his team lost 3–2 to Boyaca Chico. Later that year, América de Cali won the league title, but Duván did not play in the final matches.
On February 13, 2011, he scored three goals in one game for the first time in his career. This helped his team win 3–2 against Deportivo Pereira. Duván left América de Cali at the end of the 2011 season.
Playing for Estudiantes in Argentina
On July 27, 2011, Duván Zapata moved to Estudiantes in Argentina. He joined them on a loan deal. In his very first game, he scored a goal, helping Estudiantes win 3–2 against Belgrano.
During his first year, he sometimes played for the reserve team. Still, he managed to score four goals in eight games in one part of the 2012 season. Estudiantes bought half of his playing rights from América de Cali in 2012. For the 2012–13 season, Duván became a key player for Estudiantes. He scored 16 goals in 33 games, which made many European clubs interested in him.
Moving to Italy with Napoli

On August 25, 2013, Duván Zapata joined Serie A club Napoli in Italy. He played his first Serie A game on September 28, helping Napoli win 2–0 against Genoa. On October 22, he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League against Marseille.
He scored his first league goals for Napoli on March 26, 2014, scoring two goals in a 4–2 win against Catania. He finished that season with five goals. In July 2015, Duván joined Udinese on a two-year loan. Then, on August 31, 2017, he moved to Sampdoria on another loan deal.
Success at Atalanta
On July 12, 2018, Duván Zapata joined Atalanta on a two-year loan. He quickly made a big impact. On December 26, 2018, he scored two goals in a 2–2 draw against Juventus. On January 20, 2019, Duván scored an amazing four goals in a 5–0 win against Frosinone. This made him the first Atalanta player since 1952 to score four goals in a Serie A game.
His goals helped him become one of the top scorers in the league. On January 30, 2019, he scored twice against Juventus again, this time in the Coppa Italia quarter-final. Duván helped Atalanta reach the Coppa Italia Final and finish third in Serie A. He scored 23 league goals that season. Because of his great performance, he was named in the Serie A Team of the Year.
On October 1, 2019, Duván scored Atalanta's first-ever goal in the UEFA Champions League. In January 2020, Atalanta bought Duván permanently. He continued to score many goals, helping Atalanta achieve great results. On May 15, 2021, he scored his 56th league goal for Atalanta, becoming one of the club's highest-scoring non-Italian players in Serie A.
Joining Torino
On September 1, 2023, Duván Zapata joined Torino on a loan deal. In the summer of 2024, he officially joined Torino permanently and was named the team captain. Unfortunately, on October 6, 2024, he suffered a serious knee injury during a match against Inter Milan. This injury means he will not be able to play for the rest of the 2024–25 season.
International Career
Duván Zapata was first called up to the Colombia national team in March 2017. He made his debut on March 23, 2017, coming on as a substitute in a 1–0 win against Bolivia.
In May 2018, he was part of Colombia's larger squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. However, he was not chosen for the final team that went to Russia.
On May 30, 2019, Duván was included in Colombia's team for the 2019 Copa América. He scored his first goal for Colombia in a friendly game against Peru on June 9, 2019. He then scored in the first two group games of the Copa América against Argentina and Qatar.
In June 2021, he was again part of Colombia's squad for the 2021 Copa América. He scored a penalty kick in the quarter-final shootout against Uruguay, which Colombia won. Colombia finished third in the tournament.
Personal Life
Duván Zapata is related to another Colombian international footballer, Cristián Zapata. Cristián is his cousin and plays as a defender for Atlético Nacional.
